5. PRICING
Our prices are extremely reasonable. Because we are not distributing through a middleman, we are able to get you factory direct pricing. We do all the same procedures as many remanufacturers. We sell our engines and transmissions for half the price of other remanufactured organizations.
6. THOROUGH CLEANING
Every engine is completely disassembled. As a result you get the most which is what makes us the leader in Texas. Due to our process, you receive the highest quality cleaning for any engine.
Blocks, heads, connecting rods, crankshafts, and camshafts for domestic engines are cleaned in the Bayco Bake Oven. Shot blasting equipment engines are completely cleaned through.
7. CRANKSHAFTS
Crankshafts are precision machined to exact tolerances with no odd size bearings or journals. Thrust surfaces (domestic engines) are machined in a two-step process to provide precise surface finishes for smooth engine operation and reduced thrust bearing wear.
Every journal is inspected and measured with critical accuracy. After machining the oil holes are chamfered to improve lubrication. Every journal is polished to a smooth finish for long bearing life. Crankshafts are thoroughly cleaned. We put special emphasis to flushing and brushing out oil passages to remove any contaminants.
8. CAMSHAFTS
Camshafts are inspected for wear. Next dimensional accuracy, and gauged for straightness. Camshaft lobes are carefully machined to correct specifications. Each shaft is Parco-Lubricated to improve lubricant adhesion.
This is due to break-in. Any camshaft not meeting Thunderbolt‘s exact specifications is replaced. This is so they can perform at the highest rate.
9. CYLINDERS
Cylinders are bored. Therefore they are diamond honed to exact specifications. So the cylinder finish and size are closely monitored to industry surface finish standards. This is due to accuracy and consistency through Statistical Process Control.
This assures smooth piston travel and engine performance. Thunderbolt guarantees no odd size cylinders. The block to head mating surface is closely inspected. Furthermore it is resurfaced. This is done as required to provide the correct surface finish for today’s gasket materials.
10. CONNECTING RODS
Connecting rods are machined. So then they are gauged. Also within a half a thousandth for improved operation. As a result they are used in today’s engines.
Rods as a result are carefully machined to avoid taper. In addition this maintains the standard diameter. Therefore it matches the original equipment. All rods are checked for bend and twist to assure smooth operation.
11. HEADS
While heads are carefully inspected for cracks and flaws, damages can still be missed. As a result we provide procedures such as magnetic particle inspection and pressure testing. Every head is resurfaced.
While exact dimensional tolerances are examined, maybe the surface finish isn’t carefully monitored. Seems like other companies are cutting corners.
This is needed for proper sealing with the block.
Valve seats and guides are machined to exact specifications. Sometimes replaced to assure correct valve alignment, seating, and optimum engine performance.
12. ASSEMBLY
In addition to our regular work, every engine is precisely assembled by Thunderbolt. Most of all our builders are fully qualified so you get the most.
We pay attention to such details as a final wash of new and machined parts. Also pre-lubricated camshafts, pistons, and crankshaft. Therefore journals assure a clean, smooth running engine that performs to your expectations.
13. TESTING
Thunderbolt live tests every popular engine. As a result you get the most. This includes complete domestic engines. We cover recorded inspections of temperatures, oil pressure, vacuum pressure, and compression.
Imported engines are tested for correct oil pressure, compression, torque to turn and proper oil pump operation. Thunderbolt‘s testing is one of the many ways we assure your satisfaction.

Furthermore, our processes are continually monitored. This is through Statistical Process Control. It helps assure accurate machining, smooth engine performance and complete customer satisfaction.
